I am trying to find a relatively inexpensive cruise. Does anyone know of any reliable websites that I can try? I’ve heard of people finding great deals online, but they end up getting hit with hundreds of dollars in port fees – making the cruise much more expensive than anticipated? I want cheap & reliable. Thanks!

My suggestion is to find a reliable travel agent someone that will work with you throughout the whole process. There are forms to fill out, cabin locations the list goes on and on. They will have the fire sale information and tell them you want a quote with all the taxes and port charges (they do anyway) Depending on where you go that figure changes. The travel agents work hard for you and that is the only way they are making any money these days is by booking cruises.

How does disney cruise compare to royal caribbean?

You are going to get a lot of answers …some good and some bad. Have you tried a local travel agent?

    Good luck with your search!

You can just go to the cruise line web sites and click on the link to their specials or hot deals. Most cruise lines offer specials all the time and they can save you hundreds off the regular price. In addition, you can select a cruise and start the reservation process to see what the bottom line will be and then cancel or quit the reservation. Right now there are some good deals because of the economic situation. So try these sites:

    PRINCESS:
    http://www.princess.com/index.html

    CARNIVAL:
    http://www.carnivalcruiselines.com/

    CELEBRITY:
    http://www.celebritycruises.com/home .

    ROYAL CARIBBEAN:
    http://www.ncl.com/

Carnival is the budget site and you will likely find the best prices on their cruises.

The port fees are not negotiable. These are the fees that that the other countries/ports charge the cruise line to dock there. Taxes are another thing that you won’t get out of paying. Not unless the IRS has a really really good day.

Beyond that, I suggest going to vacationstogo.com. I do all my window shopping there. You put in your criteria as far as dates, locations, etc and you look at every cruise available that fits your criteria. Vacationstogo has some great prices, but once you find the cruise you want, you can shop around at other websites. Personally, I prefer the VTG, the prices are usually very comparable to other sources and sometimes they offer gifts/upgrades or some other form of appreciation for using them. Even if you don’t want to purchase through them, its a great place to find a cheap cruise.

Another one I look at is Legendary Journeys. They also have some great deals. And often offer transportation or parking vouchers.

Try VACATIONSTOGO.COM!! They have very, very low cruises…going to the cruise line’s website is not always the cheapest price. Don’t be fooled by this!! Of course, depending upon the time of the year, the amount of days and also if its during a major holiday, the prices will vary. Shop around and you will be safe…
