I’m booking a Disney Cruise, but I don’t know what ship is better… The Disney Dream or the Disney Magic? Which has more kid things? Which has more entertainment? and so on. Also can you describe some of the best features of each ship. And thank you all for taking the time to answer my question.

The Dream is brand new!! Of course take the Dream if you can. They both have kids things. The Dream is a bigger and brand new ship-so it will have more fun. Please see below.

Disney Dream
he magnificent Disney Dream boasts 14 decks full of new features and exciting activities. Designed with families in mind, the ship offers classic cruise entertainment such as 3-D movies in the Buena Vista Movie Theatre and family deck parties, as well as cruise-industry firsts like AquaDuck, the thrilling onboard water coaster. Designed to reflect the glamour of the 1930s, Disney Dream combines a sophisticated ambiance with the imaginative storytelling of Disney. More than 80% of the staterooms feature ocean views and most also include split bathrooms, another first in the cruise industry. Younger children can spend their time in Andy’s Room, Monster’s Academy, Pixie Hollow or Explorer Pod while teenagers can retreat to Edge or Vibe, hip teen-only venues. Adults also have a place to call their own —The District features an adults-only nighttime entertainment area with several bars and lounges to choose from. Dining options include an elegant, adults-only restaurant, three themed main dining rooms and casual buffets. Join the spectacular Disney Dream and never experience a dull moment.

Disney Magic

This ship resembles a classic liner, with its sleek design and black hull trimmed in gold. The familiar mouse ears on the red stacks mark this ship as distinctly Disney, though. Passengers and their wait staff rotate among three dining rooms for each night of the cruise. Festive Parrot Cay boasts Caribbean flair, and Lumiere’s offers an elegant setting. In the Animator’s Palate, your surroundings start out in black and white, then gradually develop into full color during the course of the meal. Palo is the romantic alternative restaurant for adults only. There’s an extensive children’s program, with the ship boasting 15,000 square feet of dedicated kids’ space. Special areas and activities just for adults range from wine tastings to pampering treatments at the Vista Spa & Salon to a separate adult pool. After-hours options along Beat Street (for grown-ups only) include a rock ‘n’ roll dance club, improv comedy club and a quiet piano lounge that’s perfect for a nightcap.

WB was way off. Disney has 2 cruise ships in their fleet. Mostly they are sister ships. Both were built in 1998-1999. Both were refurbished in 2005/2006. Both are 964 feet long, hold 2,500 people, and weigh 83,000 tons. They have the same number of inside cabins, outside cabins and suites. They are sister ships so it really doesn’t matter what ship you pick.

The Disney Dream will be the 3rd ship in their fleet but they just started construction on that this year. It won’t be completed for over a year. Of course if you are planning this cruise like 18 months out, I’d go on the Dream since it will be the newest. But they don’t even have an expected date of completion, an itinerary, or even an actual layout yet in order for you to book cabins. No point in researching it until you can at least get some idea of what cruise you would be taking. The other two ships started out in Port Canaveral and had their maiden voyage in the summer so I’d imagine this one will as well.
